Who owns the website?

The website is run by Richard Ward, a resident of Thorpe Hesley for the benefit of the village residents and those wanting to find out more about the area.

How long has the webite been running?

The site has been in existance, in various forms, since October 2007.

Is there any charge for using this site?

No, the site is completely free to use including the discussion forum.

I was unable to access the website last time I tried to use it.

Our apologies for this, the site is being run on a server from a residential address, the site may have been down due to maintenance. We cannot guarantee 24 hour availability in the same way as a commercial provider, but aim to keep disruptions to an absolute minimum.

Why do I have to register my details in the discussion forum before posting messages?

The registration process deters automated registration by unscrupulous users wishing to post adverts and unsuitable material.

There is little content at the moment in the discussion forum, is it worth my time registering?

Yes, please register and tell friends and neighbours about the site, the more registrants we get, will result in more posts.

I have received a message on registering my details for the forum advising my account details are that of a 'spammer' what do I do?

Please send an email to the address below, we have had to block certain IPs (your unique number assigned by your internet provider) due to misuse, there has also been 'teething problems' which we hope have now been resolved.

I see an error on one of the pages on the site, who do I contact?

I am trying to find more information about my family history, can the website help?

Register yourself on the discussion forum and post some details of your family and what information you're looking for, we can't guarantee an answer, but someone may read your post and be able to reply. If you have detailed family tree history that you feel is important to be displayed within its own page, please use the email address below to discuss adding a dedicated page to the site.

There is already the Holy Trinity website covering Thorpe Hesley, why do we need another site?

This site does not aim to replace the church website and is no way affiliated or in competition with it, thorpe-hesley.co.uk aims at providing information that would not normally be covered by that of the church.
